Visiting Revelstoke in the Fall: Hiking, Hot Springs & Local Events
There’s something magical about Revelstoke, and we can’t quite pinpoint what it is, but something keeps drawing us back to this beautiful little mountain town in BC…
We recently visited Revelstoke for the fifth time (if you include the time we lived there), and we ended up extending our 3-day trip first to 10 days and then to 12 days. It seems like every time we visit, we find new things to do and just want to stay for longer.
The beauty of the mountains surrounding the town, the warmth of the locals, the daily coffee shop visits, and the national parks just around the corner are all parts of what make Revy so special – but to fully understand it, you have to come experience it for yourself.

Especially the fall is a great time to visit… There are more community events, tourism slows down which means there are fewer crowds around, and it’s a great time to explore the outdoors here.
Revelstoke is a ski town, but it’s not a resort town, and you really see how lovely of a community it is and how many things there are to do during this shoulder season.
In this post, we’re highlighting everything you need to know about visiting Revelstoke in the fall – from where to stay, what to expect, and what to do. That being said, lots of these activities can also be enjoyed in the spring and summer. But fall is where its at!

Enjoy the fall days in Revelstoke

Fall is such a beautiful time of year to visit Revelstoke, where the trees start to change colour, the days are long (and warm) enough to enjoy the outdoors still, and lots of fun events are happening in town.
Whether you’re here for some fall adventure or just want a chill mountain getaway, here’s everything you need to know about visiting Revelstoke in the Fall!
Where to stay in Revelstoke

Even though Revelstoke is a small town, there’s a bunch of good accommodation both in the centre, on the mountain resort, and just outside of town – so lots of great options to choose from.
A great thing about coming here in the fall (mid-September to November) is that the town is usually less busy which means there’s more availability at the different places of accommodation, and you can usually get some great discounts!
During our recent visit, we stayed at Boulder Mountain Resort which is just outside of Revy (about 4km) in these beautiful glamping domes.
Even though the place has a bit of occasional background noise from the railway and the highway, we loved our stay and spent time both in the hammock, by the fireplace, and in the hot tub!
We also visited back in August with Josie’s family where we stayed at the Alpenrose B&B which is one of the best-rated places in all of Revelstoke. We can totally see why because Laura and Jimmy were amazing hosts and the breakfast was delicious.
If you want to get some more inspiration on where to stay, you can read our guide on the hotels in Revelstoke that we recommend.
What’s the weather like in Revelstoke in the Fall?

I may be biased because my birthday is in September, but I always think it’s such a good month!
The two times we’ve visited Revy in the fall, the weather has been amazing with warm days and lots of sunshine.
The first few weeks of September usually feel like summer, but even near the end of the month, you can get those warm summer days.
That being said, Revelstoke is an inland temperate rainforest, so be prepared for some rainy days as well and pack + plan accordingly (we’ve got some suggestions for you in this post).
From October, it tends to get a bit colder, and the days are a bit shorter.
You may even get a random snow dump at the end of the fall. It actually snowed up on the peaks when we left around the end of September!
If you’re planning a trip later in the fall, check the weather a few days before, pack warm layers for your adventures, and make sure to bring your swimsuit so you can hit up some hot springs!
Best things to do in Revelstoke in the Fall
Check out the hot springs

If fall isn’t the perfect time to go soak up in some hot springs, I don’t know when it is! There are 4 awesome hot springs near Revelstoke:
Crazy Creek and Canyon Hot Springs are both on either side of Revelstoke on Highway 1. However, Canyon Hot Spring usually closes around the 3rd week of September, so depending on when you come during the fall, it might not be open anymore.
Our best suggestion in the fall is to hit up Crazy Creek since it’s one of the closest ones to Revy (30 minutes west), and it’s open 365 days a year from 9 am to 10 pm. You can get a day pass for $29.95.
If you want to treat yourself, you can also make the trip down to Halcyon Hot Springs!
It’s about a 1-hour drive away (if you time the ferry right), and it’s so beautiful there with the Columbia River and the mountains in front of you. You can check out our guide from when we visited Halcyon here.
Community events in Revelstoke

One of the things we love about Revelstoke is the community. Revy’s got so many fun events and focuses on community, and the people there are so nice and welcoming!
Especially in September and October, there are a lot of fun things going on, such as the Garlic Festival, Luna Fest, and Oktoberfest!
The best place to see what events are happening during your visit is on Revelstoke’s website here.
The Farmers Market is one thing that will for sure be happening while you visit in the fall. It’s every Saturday from May through October, usually from 8 am to 1 pm, and there’s everything from food, crafts, arts, jewelry, and so much more!
In 2023, we joined the Garlic Fest, and this year (2025), we were lucky enough to be here during the Luna Festival!
During the Luna Fest, they had a bunch of live music on the Friday, and on the Saturday, they had a bunch of different pieces of art on display throughout the town centre, turning all of Revy downtown into a work of art, which was so cool!
Revelstoke Railway Museum

The rail system plays a big part in Canada’s history – and it’s basically the reason why Revelstoke exists! The Revelstoke Railway Museum is full of interesting facts and stories about the Canadian Pacific Railway and how Revelstoke came to be.
Inside the museum, you’ll also find an old passenger railway car that shows what it was like travelling by rail back in the day.
From the kitchen and restaurant set up to the toilets and sleeping compartments, it’s really fun walking through the wagon and seeing what it looked like back in the day.
The museum is right across from downtown, and it’s a great place to spend a few hours learning about our rail system – especially on a rainy or gloomy fall day!
If you like museums, you can also check out the Art Alleries (public art gallery in the alleys downtown) as well as the BC Interior Forestry Museum and Revelstoke Museum and Archives.
🎟️ PS: The museums are free to access in Revelstoke from October 1 – December 15, 2025!
Learn more about the free access here.
Go chase waterfalls

Revelstoke is located in one of the only inland temperate rainforests in the world, and it’s surrounded by tall mountains and incredible glaciers, so it’s probably no surprise that there’s a bunch of epic waterfalls nearby!
Some of our favourites are Begbie Falls and Sutherland Falls. You can also head to Glacier National Park and check out Bear Creek Falls!
Get out on the water

There are tons of fun water activities to do in Revy – from kayaking tours and jet boats to SUP rentals and whitewater rafting.
For some reason, though, they’re often overlooked from a visitor’s point of view. But we’re here to tell you not to sleep on them, because they’re so fun!
Kayak Tour – Natural Escapes Kayaking offers a few different kayak tours: a waterfall tour, their Cascadia tour, and a glacier view tour.
We were supposed to do the waterfall tour during our recent visit, but due to rough water conditions, our guide gave us the option of rescheduling or doing the glacier view tour instead.
We decided to do the glacier view tour and ended up having an amazing time out on the water with no one else around – and it was so beautiful!
It was a 2-hour tour with just us and our guide, Dan, who taught us so much information about the area that we didn’t know (even though we used to live in Revy)!
🛶 You can also rent their kayaks and go without a guide (both pick up + drop off available) 🛶

Jet Boat Tour – Revy Jets is an awesome local company that offers jet boat tours on the Columbia River. We did the tour where we went south along the Columbia River before going to Bebie Falls to see the Kokanee Salmon spawning.
During our trip, our guide told us to look out for wildlife, and we spotted two Bald Eagles perched up on a tree next to the river.
Just like on the kayak trip, our guide was super knowledgeable and shared a bunch of cool info about Revelstoke and the surrounding area we didn’t even know about.
SUP ride – Another fun activity is to hop on a Stand Up Paddleboard and get out on the water!
There are a few good places close to town that are easy to get to, and if you rent a SUP from Revy Sup Rentals, the team will be able to give you some good suggestions on where to go!
It’s a fun activity if you want to go out on your own and enjoy a sunny fall day out on the lake or river.
Fun fact: The Columbia River is the second-largest river in North America (after the Mississippi River) 💦
Hit up Revelstoke Mountain Resort

Every time we go to Revelstoke, we end up spending at least one day at Revelstoke Mountain Resort, doing one of the many fun things there!
You can easily spend a full day at the resort because there are so many fun, different activities to do – from the aerial park to hiking the peak above, and trying out the mountain coasters. Personally, I love disc golf, but I know Josie loves the mountain coasters.
This year (in August 2025) they added the Revelstoke Highline, which is a cool suspension bridge that’s worth checking out if you’re not scared of heights.

There’s something for everyone, and on a warm fall day, one of the best things to do is to grab a smash burger up at the Mackenzie Outpost at the top of the gondola while overlooking Revy, Mount Begbie, and the surrounding mountains.
If you book your ticket online, you’ll get 10% off! Just remember to print your pass in one of the machines once you get there.
OBS: Revelstoke Mountain Resort usually closes at the end of September. You can check out their hours of operation here.

Check out one of the breweries in Revelstoke

There’s nothing like sitting out on a patio enjoying a nice cold beer in the fall after an awesome hike or a day up on the mountain resort.
There are two main breweries in town: Mt Begbie Brewery and Rumpus Beer Company.
Mt Begbie Brewery is right above Revelstoke on this beautiful property that’s perfect in the fall.
They have a nice outdoor area to hang out and relax at, and you’re surrounded by nature when you sit here.
The only downside is that you have to drive to get there, so you either have to take a taxi or have a designated driver!
There’s also another awesome brewery, which is located right in the centre of town, called Rumpus Beer Co.
This one also has a little outdoor patio and is great if you’re looking for something a bit more lively in town!
Explore Mount Revelstoke National Park and Glacier National Park
Mount Revelstoke National Park

Fall is an awesome time to visit the National Park in Revelstoke. The trails will be a lot less busy, the fall foliage will start to come to life, and hikes like the one up to Eva and Miller Lakes is incredible this time of year.
Also, just the drive up Meadows in the Sky (which is the road that leads up the national park to the summit and the fire lookout) is super beautiful! So even if you aren’t up for hiking, it’s worth hitting up the national park.
If you do go hiking in the national park, make sure to check the trail conditions on Parks Canada’s website for closures, prescribed fire activities, and bear warnings 🐻
Glacier National Park

Speaking of national parks, you can also head east on Highway 1 and make a day trip out to Glacier National Park. From Revy, there are at least 3-4 epic stops that we recommend checking out for a little day trip.
🚘 Our favourite stops are 🚘
- Giant Cedars Boardwalk
- Hemlock Grove Boardwalk
- Rogers Pass Summit
- Bear Creek Falls
Best fall hikes in Revelstoke

As you might get by now, there are so many awesome hikes to in and near Revelstoke! Below is a list of a few that we recommend.
Begbie Falls – Fun and not too challenging waterfall hike. It’s a short drive from Revelstoke and easy to get to. It’s a great hike to do in the fall, too. Check out our Begbie guide here.
Greenbelt Trail – The Greenbelt Trail is a nice, local walk you can do right in Revelstoke.
We sometimes stop by Dose, grab a coffee, and go for a nice afternoon walk on the Greenbelt. It’s always full of locals walking and biking, and it’s a great peaceful trail right next to downtown.
Mackenzie Outpost – This is a challenging hike that takes you all the way to the top of the gondola at the Revelstoke Mountain Resort.
It’s a great hike if you want to get your sweat on and do a serious workout, especially on a nice, warm fall day.
On a clear day, the view from the top is amazing – and once you’ve made it there, you can treat yourself to a smash burger or a coffee at the outpost! Check out our Mackenzie hiking guide here.
Sutherland Falls – This is another short nature stroll not far from Revelstoke, just along the Columbia River south of town.
The hike to Sutherland Falls is just a short 5-10 minute walk to a stunning waterfall so if you want to extend the adventure, you can walk around Blanket Creek Provincial Park after. You can also stop at Holm Coffee Company before or after the trailhead.
🌿 Always remember to leave no trace!

Final thoughts on visiting Revelstoke in the fall

Revelstoke in the fall is beautiful, and personally, we love coming here this time of year!
The combination of community events, shoulder season with fewer people, and also the more affordable accommodation makes a huge difference.
Whether it’s just a day or two, or if you’re lucky enough to spend a full week here in September or October, you’ll love this time of year in Revelstoke!
This blog post is currently being written sitting outside at Dose, our favourite coffee shop in town.
Yesterday, before dinner, we got ourselves an ice cream made with fresh fruit at Sugar Shack and walked down to the Centennial Park to enjoy the sunset. Not a bad life 😉
