Who knew a small town in the middle of Bulgaria would become such a hub for digital nomads? It’s honestly one of the best spots we’ve ever visited from a community and co-working aspect.

The coworking space in Bansko is amazing and Coworking Bansko has done a great job over the years building a strong community here in Bansko.

When we look for new locations as digital nomads we always focus on three things: community, how close it is to nature, and the cost of living. Coworking Bansko fits perfectly in all three of these categories and we can’t wait to share our experiences with you.

Why Coworking Bansko is the best coworking space in Bansko

I think it was after the first few days of being here Jo and I looked at each other and were just blown away by how dedicated the management is to Coworking Bansko.

Matthias and Cvetelina above and beyond to make your coworking experience here memorable.

At the time of writing this post, we’ve been here for a month and we’re already planning on when we’re coming back to Bansko again (we did come back again x2 from future Dom).

It’s such an awesome place to be since you’re surrounded by good people and an awesome coworking community. We’ve been so productive here while also enjoying ourselves and hiking a bunch in the Pirin Mountains.

There’s literally an endless amount of things to do in Bansko, and being a part of the digital nomad community here in Bansko makes it even better.

There are some many benefits to working at coworking spaces that you’re going to absolutely love it here. If you love skiing and hiking then the fact Bansko is next to the Pirin Mountains is the icing on the cake.

Work hard at one of the coworking spaces in the morning and then enjoy one of the many activities in the afternoon.

Variety of different coworking spaces at Coworking Bansko

One of the most impressive things about Coworking Bansko has to be the variety of different coworking spaces. They have three different buildings spread across Bansko that offer completely different vibes.

Depending on the type of coworking space you’re looking for you can check out some of the different locations to see what fits your needs.

#1 Quiet space/social space

This is where you can find the main office for Coworking Bansko. It’s also very centrally located in Bansko and if you’re planning on staying somewhere downtown you will most likely spend most of your time at this location.

They have a designated quiet space area where you can get work done with zero distractions. There are also a few private rooms that you can book in advance for meetings and such.

In the basement of the same building, they have the social space which is one of our favourite spaces as it is filled with different board games.

It’s a good place to work and chat in the morning and in the evening it turns into more of an event room (games, movies, poker nights, presentations, etc.).

The quiet and social space is where Coworking Bansko started and from there it has evolved into what it is today. This is also where the Friday BBQs are happening during the summer since this space has quite a big backyard.

#2 Gondola coworking space (No longer a location from 2023)

Gondola Coworking Space in Bansko.

This space is for all those who live up in the mountains! 😉 Well not actually, but it’s a great location close to the gondola so those who don’t want to “commute” to the center of the city every day still have a place to work.

We’re currently in the gondola coworking space and love it here (2021). There’s three big tables. It’s usually not too busy but busy enough to chat with a few people, go for lunch if anyone wants to, and get lots of work done.

There is also a private room in case you need to have a meeting and don’t want to distract anyone. Even though it’s a smaller space it still has everything you need. Including a high-end coffee machine that makes you any kind of drink you want.

#3 The Lounge

A group of people playing boardgames at Coworking Bansko.
While we mostly work from the Lounge, we do sometimes play games too

The Lounge is currently our favourite spot in 2023. It’s basically right behind the main Coworking Bansko (Quiet/social space) but you have to walk around the street to get there so it takes about 60 seconds.

The Coworking Bansko Lounge is definitely the most chill area but also the least productive area. There’s always people there chatting, listening to music and having a good time.

But there’s always room to get work done as well if you need to. This is a good place to go to if you have some easier tasks you need to check off your list.

Guess what? We haven’t even mentioned the best part about the lounge yet! If you walk upstairs there’s a nice rooftop patio. It’s the perfect place to play games and hang out on a sunny day. You can even lay in the hammock and take in the fresh Bansko air. Not bad!

Whenever we order food to deliver we usually always go sit up and eat on the terrace with the friends we’ve met.

On top of all that, there’s also two private rooms in the basement of The Lounge if you need a quiet space to have a meeting.

So even though it’s a coworking space it really is more of a social space than anything where you can also hang out with the other members!

Community aspect at Coworking Bansko

Picture from the top of Vihren Peak in Bulgaria.

When we travel and go to different digital nomad cities and locations around the world, community is so important for us. One of the main reasons we came to Bansko in the first place was because of the amazing community it has.

We’ve had a few friends visit Bansko and Coworking Bansko before us and they said how amazing the community was.

We honestly had pretty high expectations coming here and yet, we were still very impressed with the community aspect there is.

There’s literally something going on every day of the week. If you want to be social and hang out with other nomads there’s always something and if you want some time to yourself then you have lots of time for that too.

  • Mondays: Board game nights in the social space.
  • Tuesdays: Poker night or time to relax
  • Wednesday: Networking, presentations, volleyball,TED talks.
  • Thursdays: Spa days to the hot springs in Banya.
  • Fridays: BBQ potluck dinner at the social space or group dinner at a restaurant.
  • Saturdays: Hiking in the Pirin Mountains, skiing, adventures, wine tastings, board games, tennis, and much more!
  • Sundays: Movie nights.

This is just a sample of everything that goes on at Coworking Bansko. There’s other groups as well for sports, taking care of the street dogs, and so much more.

You’ll definitely never be bored here because there’s always something going on.

On top of everything mentioned above, there are still more perks to being a member of Coworking Bansko.

Coworking Bansko perks include:

The list goes on and on and we could continue it for the next two pages. Or you can experience it for yourself. We honestly don’t have anything bad to say about Bansko, and our time here has been amazing.

The real question is when are you going to come? Bansko is one of those places where you can always come back to. Life is simple and easy, and the cost of living is cheap.

You have everything you need from the coworking space and it’s just a fun time in this little mountain town in Bulgaria. There are also plenty of things to do in Bansko and even Bansko in summer is one of the best places to be in Europe!

We hope you find your way to Bulgaria at some point during your digital nomad journey. Especially if you’re outdoorsy and love to be close to nature after a long day behind the computer screen.

The hiking in the Pirin Mountains next to Bansko is amazing and you can even find the second tallest mountain in Bulgaria right here in the Pirin Mountains (Vihren Peak).
