Where to Stay in Prague in 2025 (From a Local)
Over the years, Prague has become one of the most beautiful cities to visit in Europe. We’ve been fortunate to live here on and off for over 3 years. In the 3+ years we’ve lived in long-term apartments, stayed in AirBnBs, and tried out our fair share of hotels around the city.
From the vibrant expat area of Vinohrady to the quirky and fun district of Karlín and everything in between, Prague has a place for everyone. That’s why we highlight every district/neighbourhood and share some of the highlights in each one to help plan your stay in the city.
We’re not joking when we say that almost every area of Prague has something unique to offer, and that’s why in this post we share highlights and things to do in each of them to help you better decide what area is the right fit for your stay.

The best neighbourhoods to stay in Prague
The beauty of Prague is that even though it’s the capital city of the Czech Republic, filled with amazing things to see and do, it doesn’t have the chaos some other big cities do. Of course, Old Town Prague and near the Prague Castle can get busy at times, but that’s just a small area of the city.
It’s great to go see the busy areas as that is where some of the highlights are. But what many people don’t know is that there are some lovely areas in Prague outside of the tourist centre (Prague 1) that also have a lot of charm and character. Since the city isn’t that big if you end up staying in one of the quieter areas you can still easily get to the heart of the city and explore that too.
Pro tip: Here is a list of some of our favourite cafes in Prague! There’s a good chance that some of these places will be near the areas we recommend staying in Prague.
#1 Vinohrady (expat and fancier part of Prague)

Vinohrady is a district that’s known as the expats’ part of Prague & is considered a bit more upscale. Almost everywhere you go, you’ll hear internationals speaking English and find cute cafes (Cafe Du is one of them) around every corner.
It’s a cute part of the city that is filled with parks (Riegrovy Sady is perfect for sunset), stunning architecture, and beer gardens where you can go enjoy a beer or two! Don’t worry if you’re not a beer lover; there are lots of other things to drink and see in the area, too.
We lived in Vinohrady for 2 years, and this is without a doubt one of our favourite areas in Prague. Whenever we go back for a short trip, Vinohrady is always our go-to place to stay and the first place we visit, so we can stop by all our local spots.
Best things to do in Vinohrady

One of our favourite areas in Vinohrady is JZP (Jiřího z Poděbrad), which is a square full of cafes, restaurants, and an outdoor area to hang out. On that square alone, you have CafeFin, which is an awesome brunch spot, Pho Vietnam which has incredible food, and Kro Coffee where you can get awesome coffee and delicious pastries.
The architecture surrounding the square is also stunning, and right in the heart of it, you’ll see the beautiful Catholic Church. JZP is a great place to hang out if you’re looking for somewhere to relax and be surrounded by people. On top of that, there is also a fantastic farmers market that’s open most days of the week, and you can see Jirak’s opening hours here.
Another beautiful area of Vinohrady is the famous Riegrovy Sady Park. This is one of the most beautiful parks in Prague for multiple reasons, but the main one is the stunning view you get overlooking Old Town Prague and Prague Castle – and this is an amazing spot to watch the sunset.
There is also a beer garden in the park, a restaurant, and tons of areas to sit and relax in the park. The restaurant/bar that serves beer has a rooftop terrace, which is fun to visit too.
It’s a very nice neighbourhood and has the charm you’ll find in Old Town Prague but with less tourists and tons of cafes, restaurants, and places to explore!
Where to stay in Vinohrady

Below we’ve listed some of the best places of accommodation in Vinohrady!
Royal Square View Residence – Stunning location located right next to JZP (all the cafes and restaurants). Beautifully furnished apartment that feels like home the moment you step in. Perfect distance to everything you’ll need in Vinohrady.
La Fenice – This hotel is also conveniently located in Vinohrady and within walking distance to all the cafes and shops. You’ll also have a delicious breakfast buffet waiting for you in the morning before setting out for a day of adventures.
Hotel Orion – Located between two of the main parks in Vinohrady, Hotel Orion is within walking distance from the tram and metro lines. The hotel has everything from amazing views out the bedroom windows to a yummy breakfast buffet.
#2 Old Town Prague (Prague’s charm)

Old Town Prague speaks for itself, and that’s where most of the magic and highlights in the city are. If you only have a few days in Prague and want to stay within walking distance from everything, then Old Town is the place to stay.
Best things to do in Old Town Prague
Old Town Prague is filled with museums, the famous astronomical clock, restaurants, events, and cafes, and it’s all walkable. Prague itself isn’t a huge capital city, and it’s easily walkable, which is great if you end up staying in a central location.
Even with only a few days, you’ll see so much. Staying in Old Town will be convenient since everything there is accessible.
There’s so much to see in Old Town, and some of our favourite cafes can be found there. If you have a chance, we recommend going to Scout Institute for a coffee or beer during the day. It’s a local gem right in the heart of the city.
Where to stay in Old Town Prague

Below, we’ve listed some of the best places to stay in Old Town.
Little King Hotel U Malvaze – Located in Old Town Prague, this chic hotel is perfect if you’re looking for a nice place to stay in one of the most beautiful parts of the city!
Little King Hotel is within walking distance of all the city highlights, and it’s a great place if you’re planning a little getaway to Prague.
Falkensteiner Boutique Hotel Prague – This is another stunning boutique hotel located just steps away from the historic center. From stunning rooms to a terrace and even a little gym inside the hotel, Falkensteiner has everything you can possibly need in a boutique hotel.
You can enjoy an awesome breakfast buffet before walking around Old Town Prague. In the evening, you can enjoy a nice drink at the hotel before diving into one of the comfiest beds imaginable.
Hotel Paris Prague – This 5-star hotel in Prague is located right next to the famous Powder Tower. A fun fact about the building is that it was built in 1904, and that’s what gives it that Neo-Gothic look with Art Nouveau features.
Each room is uniquely decorated and truly gives you a taste of one of the best hotels in the city. Inside the hotel, you’ll also find a wellness center and a restaurant, and you’ll feel like you don’t even need to leave the hotel. Thankfully, it’s located in probably one of the most beautiful parts of the city, so you’ll be within walking distance of everything.
Pro tip: If you plan to see a lot of the highlights, get the Prague Pass to save money and skip the line for some of the top attractions like the clock tower of the Prague Astronomical Clock!
#3 Karlín (hip and upcoming area)

Karlin has been an up-and-coming area in Prague for quite a few years now. It’s also perfectly located close enough to Old Town Prague to get there quickly, but far enough that when you’re in Karlin, you get a good mix of locals, expats, and tourists.
This part of town is becoming vibrant with lots of breweries, cafes, and things to do. I’d say Karlin is the more artsy and creative district in Prague, and you’ll see it with the creative events always going on in Karlin.
If you’re looking for a fun and lively part of town, you’ll really enjoy Karlin. It still feels like authentic Prague with a bit of a twist, with a bunch of cool things always happening there.
Best things to do in Karlin
Karlin is full of wonderful places to hang out and relax, and Dva Kohouti is this local pub that serves delicious beer and food with an awesome outdoor seating area. It’s perfect on a warm sunny day when you want to spend the full day outside in the sun, and enjoy some delicious Czech beer.
Kasárna Karlin is another awesome little area that has a few pubs and cafes, and also hosts theatre productions outside during the summer months.
This place is the definition of Karlin since back in the day. This facility used to be an army barracks and has now been transformed into this artsy area where young people hang out and enjoy summer evenings.
On top of all that, you’ll find places like Forum Karlin, where there are always live concerts and great restaurants like Spojka Karlin and a few others!
Where to stay in Karlin

Below we’ve listed out some of the best accommodation in Karlin!
Hotel Royal Prague – This hotel is perfectly located in Karlín, close to everything, including the metro, which can quickly take you to the old town when you want to explore the old city.
At the hotel, you’ll also find a bar, breakfast buffet, fitness centre, and cozy rooms for when you’re done exploring for the day. It’s also located close to a bunch of cute restaurants and cafes in Karlin.
Hotel Mucha Karlin – It’s a very modern hotel with beautiful rooms. The reception area is very charming, and the attention to detail at Hotel Mucha is fantastic.
Everything from the staff to the breakfast buffet at the hotel is great, and it’s also conveniently located in Karlin, close to everything and within walking distance of both the metro and trams.
Hilton Prague Hotel – There’s a Hilton in Karlin, and it’s absolutely stunning. There is every type of room imaginable at the Hilton, and it’s even within walking distance to Old Town Prague.
The hotel is located right on the edge of Karlin between Karlin and Old Town Prague, so you can’t ask for a much better location.
The hotel itself is absolutely stunning and has all the amenities you can imagine for a Hilton. If you’re looking to treat yourself, the Hilton is the perfect place to do it.
#4 Letná (beautiful parks)

Letná is one of the first districts in Prague that we lived in, and we absolutely love it there. Letna is so green with all the different parks you can find in the area(Letna Park). Letna is actually quite close to Old Town, it’s across the river and up above it, so you get some incredible views overlooking Prague.
Even though Letna is across the river and above the city, it’s a very lively part of Prague because of all the parks, beer gardens, cafes, and restaurants.
This part of town is great if you love being outdoors. If it’s an outdoor cafe or relaxing at the beer gardens, you’ll find yourself enjoying the outdoors in Letná.
Best things to do in Letná
I believe Letna has the most beautiful beer garden in the city. The garden overlooks the whole city, and Old Town is directly across the river underneath you. There are benches next to the beer garden, too, if you want to bring a book and enjoy a relaxing afternoon in the park.
You’ll also find the National Technical Museum in Letna, which, in our opinion, is one of the coolest museums to visit in Prague. Here, you’ll learn about the history of the Czech Republic, inventions, and historic things the Czechs have done.
You’ll also find amazing cafes in Letna, like Cafe Letka and Kafe Francin. So when you’re not out and about exploring the city, you can relax in the Letna district of Prague at one of the lovely cafes or restaurants.
Where to stay in Letná

Below, we’ve listed some of the best places to stay in Letná.
Boutique Hotel Klarov – This is probably one of the most beautiful hotel stays in Prague! This boutique hotel is located near the Prague Castle and close to Letna Park. The rooms are stunning, the breakfast is delicious, and it even has an outdoor area to sit in where you can take in the views of the city.
If you’re looking for something a bit more romantic or just looking to treat yourself to a nice stay in Prague, this is the perfect place to stay in Letna.
Residence Dobrovskeho 30 – This cute little apartment is conveniently located in Letna, close to the tram and easy to get to from the airport. You’re within walking distance of all the parks, and it’s a cozy apartment to call home while you’re in Prague.
Belvedere – We stayed at Belvedere during our most recent trip to Prague and loved it. It’s a great mid-range hotel for a good price, and it comes with a breakfast buffet.
It’s conveniently located in Letna, close to the trams and Letna Park, as well as lots of delicious restaurants in the area. All around a solid hotel in Letna for a good price.
Art Hotel Prague – This is a beautiful and stylish hotel located at the edge of Letna, close to Stromovka Park. If you’re looking for a proper hotel with attentive staff and a good breakfast buffet, then this hotel is perfect.
#5 Holešovice (quirky artsy part of town)

Holešovice is another one of those rapidly developing districts of Prague where you’ll find all sorts of unique cafes. It has that whole manufacturing buildings turned into a brewery kinda vibe.
The district itself is quite big, but there are a few metro lines in Holešovice and tram lines that will get you to the centre of the city quite quickly. If you’re looking for something a bit more edgy, local, and fun, then Holešovice is the perfect district to stay in.
Best things to do in Holešovice
There is so much to do in Holesovice as it’s quite a big district, and the beauty of this part of town is that there’s always something going on.
Vnitroblock is one of the coolest spots in the city, and it’s open from early in the morning until quite late. This is one of those factory-type buildings that has been restored and turned into something really cool.
Cross Club is another place you must visit if you’re looking for a night out. This bar is located right in the heart of Holesovice, and it’s a bit of a restaurant pub during the day and evening, and then at night it turns into a proper nightclub! It highlights a bit of what you can expect in Holesovice.
On top of that, there are some really cool cafes(Kafe NA ZASTÁVCE) and restaurants in the area too. So you really don’t need to go far to enjoy yourself here in Holesovice.
Where to stay in Holesovice

Below, we’ve listed some of the best places to stay in Holesovice.
Plaza Prague – This is probably one of the best-rated hotels we’ve ever seen in Prague, and we totally get why. The rooms offer a great city view, the breakfast is incredible, there’s free parking, and you’re less than 5 minutes from the metro. Plus, you can get free fitness access and a free Prague Pass with your stay!
ColorFactory Spa Hotel – You can never go wrong with a spa hotel! ColorFactory in Holesovice is great if you want a gym and spa in your hotel for when you’re back from exploring the city. The hotel has everything you need to have a wonderful stay in Prague.
Residence Mozaika Prague – This is a cute property in Holesovice that has everything from a studio apartment to apartments for the whole family. The properties are located in a newer apartment building, and the place is conveniently located close to tram lines and the metro.
