Awesome Free Walking Tour in Prague – Legends & Beer Night Walk
One of the best ways to get a feel for Prague is to go on a free walking tour of the city. There is honestly no better way to experience the city for the first time!
Prague has a handful of different walking tours you can go on, depending on your interests and what you’d like to see, but since you’ll be in the beer capital of the world, it’s only fitting to go on the Legends & Beer night walk, right?
No matter which tour you go on, it’s a great way to get a sense for the city, learn a few things about the history & culture, and hopefully get some local tips from your walking guide.
For that reason, we also always suggest scheduling this in for one of the first days of your trip and keeping a few slots open in your itinerary to try out some of the suggestions you get from your guide!

Enjoying a free walking tour in Prague
If it’s your first time in Prague, a free walking tour should be one of the first things on your agenda – besides maybe visiting one of the many amazing cafes in Prague to fuel up on some coffee after a long travel day.
After living in Prague for 3 years, we have put together a full blog post of different things to do in Prague here, but this post is dedicated to just one of them: going on a free walking tour.
We’ve started to really enjoy these free walking tours wherever we go because they offer so much more than just the stories and facts you learn from the guide.

You end up meeting some other really nice travellers and maybe even making a friend. It’s happened to us a few times where we really clicked with the people we were on a tour with, and we ended up exchanging contact information!
On top of that, if you have questions about what to do in the city, the best restaurants, and maybe even getting a few suggestions for hidden gems, your guide will be more than happy to share this with you.
Now that we’ve established why going on a free walking tour is such a fun idea, let’s talk about which tour we went on and help you figure out which one is right for you when you’re visiting Prague!

Legends & Beer Night Walk around Prague

During our most recent visit back to Prague, we decided to go on a free walking tour around the city! Even though we’ve lived in the city for years, we’ve only ever gone on one walking tour before – so we figured it would be a fun way to go down memory lane and see Prague with fresh eyes.
What we found was that there were a ton of different walking tours available, and the one that stood out to us was this Legends & Beer Prague Night Tour.
It was a really fun way to learn something new about the city and hear some of the famous stories and medieval legends about Prague.
Even for us who have walked around the city hundreds of times, it was like seeing the city from a completely different perspective, which was really cool. (We even went to a few places we’d never been before!)
On the Legends & Beer Night Walk around Prague, you stop by quite a few famous landmarks such as Rudolfinum, Charles Bridge, John Lennon Wall, and Prague’s narrowest streets.
It’s a really fun way to see the city while learning a bunch of fun facts while immersing yourself in Czech history or fiction…depending on what kind of guide you get!
If you want to check the availability for the free Legends & Beer walking tour, you can see what times are available here.
This specific tour is more of an evening walk since going when it’s a bit darker out sets a better scene for sharing legends.
If it suits you better to go during the daytime, there are so many other free walking tours available that you should easily be able to find one that fits into your schedule. Let’s go over some of the other options below!

More free walking tours in Prague

You’ll notice when you look online that there are quite a few different walking tours around Prague, so you can easily find one (or multiple) that you may like.
Below we’ve listed out some of the ones we think are the best experiences for when you’re visiting Prague for the first time…

If this is your first time visiting Prague, and you want to know more about the history of the city and listen to some interesting medieval stories about the city, this is the perfect tour for you.

What to know before going on a walking tour

Make sure to be on time
This one might be obvious, but it’s good to be there 10-15 minutes early for the tour! Especially being in a new city, it might take a few minutes to find the exact meeting point, so give yourself a bit of a buffer.
The guides work for tips
Although this is a “free walking tour”, please note that the guides rely 100% on tips for their income. It is a “free” walking tour in the sense that there’s no upfront cost to join the tour, but a tip for the guide at the end of the tour goes a long way.
You can pick how much you want to tip your guide – there is no fixed price. Whatever you’re comfortable with & think the tour was deserved is exactly what you can tip.
Expect to walk quite a bit
This is specific to Prague, but there are tons of cobblestones, and a bit of uphill on some of the tours as well.
For us, it wasn’t an issue at all, but we did hear a few people on our tour mentioning that they thought it was a lot of walking and that it was hard on the cobblestones.
If you have good walking shoes, we would highly recommend wearing them on the tour. Your feet will thank you later!
Ask questions
Of course, the guide has all the knowledge, but you have to imagine they run a similar tour every single day.
The more interest you show and the more questions you have for the guide, the more the guide will be able to share with you – and the better your experience will be. Questions are good!
