2 Days in Revelstoke in the Fall (Weekend Itinerary)

Revelstoke is one of the cutest small towns in BC and one of our favourite places in Canada. There’s a reason we keep going back, and this year we spent some time here in the fall.

It’s hard to say what our favourite season is in Revelstoke, but in the fall, when the leaves start to change colour, things begin to slow down, and a sweater and an outdoor coffee at Spilt Milk Coffee (the best coffee shop in town) is on the agenda, it’s hard to beat that.

Downtown Revelstoke on a beautiful Summer day

We’ve designed this 2-day itinerary in Revelstoke if you’re looking for a little mountain getaway in the fall with all the inspiration you need to enjoy a cozy and outdoorsy weekend in this beautiful mountain town.

We’ve included some of our favourite hikes, where to enjoy a nice coffee, and some unique things to do in the fall here in Revelstoke that will make you fall in love with this time of year.

By the end of the weekend, you’ll see why we absolutely love Revy and keep coming back to this incredible little mountain town in BC.

2 Fall Days in Revelstoke Itinerary

Revelstoke is in the middle of the map, west of the Rockies

Revelstoke has so much to offer in the fall, and we’re excited to share this short but sweet weekend itinerary with you.

We’ve spent quite a bit of time in Revelstoke over the year, so we have created some nice lists of fun things to do in Revy, some must-do hikes around town, and even restaurants you can’t miss here in Revelstoke.

In this itinerary, we’ve included a mix of must-try activities in the fall, like visiting our favourite local coffee spots, an underrated museum, and even a few activities we didn’t even know existed here in Revy.

Where to stay in Revelstoke

There are quite a few cozy glamping spots and cabins to stay at during the Fall in Revy. One of the glamping sites we stayed at recently was Boulder Mountain Resort, which offers a wide variety of sites.

Another great place to stay is Mackenzie Village, as it’s close to Revelstoke Mountain Resort and one of our favourite places to stay in town for longer stays (we stayed in one of these condos for 10 days). There are quite a few really nice rentals you can stay in at Mackenzie Village.

If the weather is still holding up and you plan to camp, there are a few good camping options around Revelstoke, too. Something for everyone here in Revy! If you’re looking for more inspiration, we also have a post on the best hotels in Revelstoke you can check out.

Our top suggestions based on the type of accommodation:

🏕️ Glamping: Boulder Mountain Resort
🥞 Bed & Breakfast: Alpenrose B&B (Laura and Jimmy are incredible hosts)
🏨 Hotel downtown: The Regent Hotel
🏡 Private apartment: Up at Mackenzie Village

Day 1: Explore the local side of Revelstoke

A smiling man stands in front of a peaceful river landscape with forested banks and a small island, backed by the towering silhouette of Mt Begbie. The mountain’s rugged peaks are partially covered with glaciers, adding a dramatic alpine touch to the scenic view.
Revelstoke on a beautiful sunny fall day!

If you’re coming for the weekend to Revelstoke, you probably won’t get to town until sometime in the afternoon. Thankfully, there’s still lots to see and do right in town.

If you’re coming from the East, along Highway 1 from Calgary or Banff, we recommend making a stop at Bear Creek Falls in Glacier National Park for a short, 1-hour hike before continuing to Revy.

Stop by Spilt Milk coffee shop

If you arrive in Revy before 2:30 pm, then we highly recommend making Spilt Milk (formerly Dose Coffee) your first stop in town. We’re suckers for coffee, so it’s only right that the first thing we recommend doing here is stopping by our favourite coffee shop!

Whether you’re after a coffee or a snack, this is the place to grab it. It’s located in the heart of downtown, and from there, you can get to either of the next recommendations super easily!

Love coffee? We have created a fun coffee map of some of our favourite cafes around the world ☕️

Afternoon activity: Walk or Museum

An interior view of a historic looking building with vaulted wooden ceilings and exposed beams, featuring a large “REVELSTOKE” railway sign mounted above a glass-railed walkway. Sunlight pours through tall windows, highlighting museum exhibits and vintage train artifacts below.
We were surprised by how much we enjoyed the Revelstoke Railway Museum

After your coffee, we’ve got two options for you depending on whether you’re feeling like stretghinc your legs and getting some fresh air or if you want a history lesson!

Option 1 is to walk the Greenbelt Trail in Revy, which is a local walking trail along the Columbia River, and option 2 is to explore the Revelstoke Railway Museum.

Both are great options, and personally, I’d let the weather decide which one to do, as they are both great activities. However, the walk will be much more enjoyable if the weather is good.

🌿 Greenbelt Path Trail – Beautiful little walk that you can start right from Spilt Milk. You can walk for as long as you want, but it will probably take you around 2 hours. It’s a great walk if you want to stretch your legs after driving in the car for a few hours.

🚂 Revelstoke Railway Museum – In general, we are not big museum goers, but we were pleasantly surprised by how interesting the Railway Museum is. If the weather isn’t great or you want to learn a bit about Revelstoke’s history and the importance of the train network in this town, the museum is a must-visit!

Dinner and bowling date

Friday night dinner and bowling, anyone? We had no idea this place even existed until this year, and it was such a fun date night!

We had Mexican at Cantina del Centro, where we had delicious tacos and mocktails. Even though it was mid-September, we could still sit outside on the patio. (It’s definitely worth bringing a sweater, but there’s something cozy about the fall mountain air).

After dinner, head inside where you’ll find a vintage-looking 5-pin bowling alley. I don’t know why, but it felt like we were in a 1990s high school romance movie. It’s super cute and vintage inside, and we had a lot of fun playing bowling here for an hour.

If you’re looking for more dinner inspirations, there’s a ton of other great restaurants in Revelstoke!

Day 2: Outdoor adventure day

View of Mount Begbie in Revelstoke, British Columbia, framed by tall evergreen trees, with sun rays breaking through the clouds and illuminating a section of the mountainside.

One thing people don’t realize about Revelstoke is that there are some awesome fall activities to do in town, and while it isn’t famous for its fall colours like Banff and Quebec, for example, we love visiting this time of year!

The weather is usually still great and it’s an awesome time for last-chance adventures, hiking, visiting the hot springs nearby, and checking out some waterfalls (like Begbie Falls)!

Below is a suggested itinerary for your 2nd day in Revy (and your first full day here). This is how we’d spend the day if we only had 2 days here, but we’ll add some more suggestions for things to do below in case you’re curios what else there is to do nearby.

Breakfast at Terravita Kitchen

This is a local gem in Revelstoke and is worth trying out for breakfast (or lunch) at least once. Most things at Terravita are farm-to-table, and their farm is located just outside of Revelstoke, past the Big Eddy area!

They have amazing breakfast, brunch, and lunch options, and most are healthy options too. It’s a great place to get your day started and fuel up for some adventures.

Visit the Revelstoke Mountain Resort

After your breakfast, we suggest you hit up Revelstoke Mountain Resort! There are so many fun things to do up there – and in 2025, they’ve added another attraction: the Highline Bridge. If you like heights and pretty views, you’ll enjoy walking across this one!

We recommend getting the Revelstoke Adventure Pass, which lets you pick and choose between the fun activities at the resort. When buying the pass (buy it online for 10% off), you can pick how many activities you want to do: either 3-5 or unlimited).

Riding the gondola from the bottom of the resort up to the top at “McKenzie Outpost” counts as 1 acitivty. And from up there, you can also visit the Highline Bridge.

At the top of the gondola, there’s also a few hikes you can do (get there early if that’s your plan!), and it’s also an awesome place to stop for lunch once you get hungry. They’ve got a small menu but their burgers are delicious, and you can’t beat the view!

Some of the other activities include riding the mountain pipe coaster which is so much fun!

Suggestion for the Mountain Resort:

  • Purchase the “Any 4 Adventures” Pass 🎟️
  • Start with the Aerial Park (1 Adventure) 🎡
  • Take the gondola up to McKenzie Outpost (1 Adventure) 🚡
  • Go explore the Highline Bridge (free) 🌁
  • Enjoy a delicious lunch from the outpost 🍔
  • Take the gondola down to the mid-station 🚡
  • Ride the pipe coaster (1 Adventure) 🎢
  • Either ride the pipe coaster one more time or try a round of disc golf (1 Adventure + disc rentals) 🥏

Personally, I think this is the best way to spend the day at the Mountain Resort. The mountain coaster, Highline Bridge + Lunch up at McKenzie Outpost are the highlights!

Dinner and a drink in town

After an adrenaline-filled day at the resort, it’s worth checking out the town. One thing we love about Revelstoke is how lively the city can get.

There are so many cute restaurants in Revy to choose from – from Mexican and Italian to fine dining and even a Texan Smokehouse. And that’s exactly where we suggest you go for day two: Craft Bierhaus.

After dinner, if you’re up for it, head over to Monashee Spirits, which is a local distillery and a great place for cocktails! There is also Rumpus Beer Company around the corner if you’re looking for some good beer instead.

Not a bad way to finish off an adventure-filled fall day in Revy. And if you’ve booked a place with a hot tub, we highly suggest finishing the night off relaxing in a hot tub outside overlooking the mountains and the beautiful star-filled night sky!

Last taste of Revelstoke

Cute coffee shop interior with a while and green wall and lots of art and coffee beans hung on the wall.
Holm Coffee Shop is super cute inside

Depending on how much time you have on your final day, there’s still so much to do and see here… It’s worth checking out Holm Coffee Company in the Big Eddy area. (Fun fact: this is also right around the corner from the most affordable gas station in town).

If you’ve got the chance for another adventure before you have to leave town, we highly suggest going on a water adventure!

Get out on the water

Since Revelstoke is located right by the Columbia River, there’s a ton of fun water adventures nearby! Depending on what you’re interested in, you can go on a kayaking trip or a jet boat experience (the Begbie Falls Adventure is awesome).

If you’re looking for a bit more of an adrenaline rush, you can also sign up for a white water rafting experience. It’s a 4-hour experience, so if you’ve got time before you head out, this is super fun! You’re likely to get wet, though, so keep that in mind. If that’s not for you, then kayaking or jet boating is your safer bet.

Leaving Revelstoke

Now that your time in Revy has sadly come to an end, it’s time to leave. Depending on which way you head out, we’ve got a few last suggestions for you:

Heading East? (Golden, Banff, Jasper)

If you’re headed along Highway 1 in the direction of the Canadian Rockies, then you’re in for a real treat! Stop by Canyon Hot Springs (open till late September), go for a walk with a wolf in Golden, or go for a short hike in Glacier National Park (Hemlock Grove Boardwalk or Bear Creek Falls are great options).

Heading West? (Kelowna, Kamloops, Vancouver)

If you’re headed West towards Sicamous, there are three stops worth making:

  1. Three Valley Gap – a ghost town with a beautiful, red chateau by the Three Valley Lake 👻🏨
  2. The Enchanted Forest – to explore a beautiful, fairytale-like attraction in the forest 🏰🍄
  3. Dutchmen Dairy – for the best chocolate milk in Canada (no joke!) 🍫🥛
Heading South? (Halcyon, Nakusp, New Denver)
Amazing photo of Sutherland Falls near Revelstoke, BC!
Just 5 minutes off Highway 23, you’ll find the beautiful Sutherland Falls

If you’re heading South along Highway 23, you’re in for a real treat! This drive is so beautiful and includes a (free) ferry crossing across the Columbia River Gorge.

If you’re heading this direction, you can check out Sutherland Falls. It’s a 5-minute detour to this stunning waterfall, and it’s well worth a stop. Allow 30 minutes for this stop, including the drive + the walk.

After you’ve crossed the river with the ferry, you can also stop by Halcyon Hot Springs. They’re absolutely gorgeous, and it’s a perfect stop to split up the drive and relax for a bit while taking in the views of the mountains + the river below.

Recap of 2 days in Revelstoke during the Fall

We hope this itinerary helped you plan your trip to this beautiful mountain town! Revelstoke is great all year round, but there is something special about coming to Revy in the fall when the trees are changing colour, the evening air gets a little crisper, and the town is less crowded with tourists and full of community events instead.

I think what I love the most about it is that you still get some days that feel like summer, where you can enjoy the outdoors, but you might also get a chillier fall day where you’ll need a sweater, a good coffee, and a dip in the hot tub.

If you have any questions about planning your weekend trip to Revelstoke or about any of the activities, then please reach out. You can leave a comment on this post or DM us via Instagram @redwhiteadventures, and we’ll do our best to help you!
